Senate Bill(SB) 472 establishes the Mathematics and Reading Professional Development Program. This grant program appropriates funding for professional development in mathematics through State Board of Education approved training providers. The Los Angeles County Office of Education is a state board approved SB472 provider offering institutes for various State Board of Education adopted mathematics programs.

Institutes are 5 days, 8 hours each day, and teachers:
- learn to use textbook resources to support the needs of all students
- develop critical understanding of research related to mathematics instruction
- use standards-based instruction to improve student learning

Attention: Please note that the fees for both Institute registration and the optional Fresno Pacific University (FPU) college credit have recently increased. Effective July 1, 2007, the Institute per-person registration fee increased from $750 to $1000. As of June, 2007 the cost of three units of FPU credit incrased from $150 to $165. |
